the First Russian anti-aircraft missile systems coming into service had serious shortcomings, in particular, the limited range of missile launches and the ceiling, which did not exceed 20 km. American u-2 air scouts sailed the country's airspace with impunity until mid-1960. In the USSR there were no means to destroy them. Fighter-interceptors MiG-19PM, as well as special high-altitude MiG-19SV, had too low practical ceiling, for the set of which required considerable skill. None of the experienced interceptors OKB A. I. Mikoyan, P. 0. Sukhoi and S. A. Lavochkin were still not put into mass production. However, work in this direction continued.
