the Successful debut of the Focke-Wulf Fw190A over The English channel in the autumn of 1941 entailed an order for a high-altitude version of the fighter. Three projects were launched. FW 190B was equipped with a BMW 801 engine with a turbocharger and had a pressurized cabin, the aircraft of this modification was built quite a bit.
Fw190C was powered by a 750hp Daimler Benz DB603A with a capacity of 1750 HP, were built three prototypes. The third project was based on the frame Focke Wulf Fw190A and was equipped with Junkers engine. The fuselage was extended for the new Jumo 213 engine, the first flight was made in the winter of 1941-42. Five prototypes were produced, plus a small series of Fw 190 D-O, these pre-production aircraft received designations from the Fw190 D-2 to D-8.
Fw 190D-9 was produced from June 1944, it entered service with squadron III/JG 54 "Grunherz" (Green Hearts) in September 1944.
