In 1960, started production tests of a new modification of the bomber Yak-28Л. A car equipped with radio command from the range-difference system restore DBS-2S LOTOS. The station made it possible to direct the aircraft to a stationary target by receiving signals from two ground control stations located behind the front line. During the test, the aircraft was fitted with improved engines R-11АФ2-300 6200 kgs of thrust in afterburner in the gondola of a new form, and changed the cockpit glazing of the Navigator-operator. The modified Yak-28L was produced at the Irkutsk aviation enterprise.
