the Il-38 anti-Submarine aircraft was built in 1962 on the basis of the passenger Il-18. The aircraft is equipped with a search and sighting system "BERKUT" which includes dropped radio-hydroacoustic buoys and special on-Board equipment, which provides search and destruction of enemy submarines in all weather conditions. The fuselage compartments can accommodate depth charges, anti-submarine guided missiles, torpedoes and mines. Serial production continued until 1972. A total of 58 aircraft were produced.
