Additional Information
Despite the huge capacity of the German industry, the need for more weapons was insatiable. One solution was to use captured guns. That's what the Wehrmacht did with the French field gun de 75 mode le 1897. Hundreds of these guns, produced by Schneider, were captured during the Polish and French campaigns of 1939-40 and used by Germany as howitzers. Meeting with heavily armored Soviet tanks in 1941 caused the need for anti-tank guns. Until the appearance of a sufficient number of 7.5 cm PaK 97/38 temporary solution was to put the barrel de 75 mode le 1897 with muzzle brake on the modern carriage PaK 38. The resulting gun bore the designation 7.5 cm PaK 97/38.This hybrid was quite an effective anti-tank weapon thanks to the cumulative ammunition, for which the speed of flight was not too important. In 1942-43 was built more 3700 PaK 97/38, tools were used until the end of war.
