Additional Information
the AB 40 was adopted by the Italian army in the late 1930s to replace the old Lancia models. The car was very innovative for its time, had four-wheel drive, independent suspension and two seats for drivers. The armament consisted of two 8mm machine guns mounted in the turret, and one in the rear of the hull. Only a small number of machines were produced for research purposes, as the production of an improved version of AB 41 was already being prepared. Several AB 40s were converted into patrol cars, the wheels of which were replaced by rail. Several of these machines were used by Italy and then Germany in Yugoslavia.
