SAS stands for "Special air service". This special unit was organized in 1941 by a young British officer, David Stirling, and was active in North Africa. The main task of the SAS was to weaken the enemy rear attacks. Jeep was used by SAS as the main transport. Despite the smaller load compared to Chevrolet Truck, Jeep had better off-road performance and was better suited for the nature of SAS missions.
