By the beginning of world war II, the United Kingdom did not have the technical equipment necessary for such a conflict, urgently needed a large number of very different equipment. Motorcycles used by the military for communication were civilian vehicles with minimal changes, such as military color and an additional frame for the canvas bag. Triumph quickly proposed a 3HW model based on the civilian "Tiger 80". The model was used on all theater in which the British participated: North Africa, Europe, Asia. After the Second world war motorcycles were transferred to many countries, such as Italy and Greece, where "Triumphs" were used very long thanks to its simplicity and reliability.
