CH-47D was the result of a modification of the Chinook in June 1976. The modification includes cockpit modification, flight control system improvements and new avionics. The first flight took place in may 1979. CH-47D has twice the load than the CH-47A and the best performance, the helicopter is suitable for use at night and in almost any weather. Chinook is able to take a variety of loads, including military equipment and troops. The helicopter has cargo hooks for transporting cargo outside the cabin.
