"Birth" Porsche 968 largely stems from the model 944, because after the start of its production, which started in 1982, as well as two updates made in 1987 and 1989 and received the indices "S" and "S2", began work on the modification of the "S3". However, during its creation the overwhelming number of components (about 80%) was changed. As a result, seeing that there is not much in common with the model 944, the company's leaders decided to bring it into a separate category.As a result, the Porsche 968 received not only other structural elements, but also a new design, and its equipment has become noticeably richer. The place of production has also changed – instead of the Audi Assembly plant located in Neckarsulm, the model was transferred to the conveyors of the Porsche plant in Zuffenhausen, one of the districts of Stuttgart.
