Additional Information
Citroën DS is a French passenger car. The idea of the car was born in 1938, when the head of Citroen Pierre Boulanger created the concept of VGD (Voiture de Grande Diffusion — mass production car). The design and construction of the future car, which lasted about ten years, was interrupted twice — during the war and after the death of Pierre Boulanger. The presentation of the car took place in April 1955 at the Paris motor show, where its futuristic design made a real shock. In the first hour of the exhibition, about 800 orders were received for the car, on the first day — about 12,000, and in the first week — about 80,000. DS gained worldwide fame as a result of the assassination attempt on the President De Gaulle in 1962: despite a fairly large number of bullet hits, the car did not get off the road and was able to escape from the fire.
