ORP Ślązak began his service in the Polish Navy 30 April 1942, the Most famous operation in which he served was the Dieppe RAID in August 1942 when he shot down 4 German aircraft and joined in the bombardment of coastal defense. His commander Romuald Nalencz Tymiński was hailed as a hero, in Poland and Canada. With the exception of the Dieppe RAID, Ślązak also participated in escorting Gibraltar convoys and landings in Sicily and Salerno. He was returned to the UK in 1946 and in may 1953 was transferred to the Indian Navy, where he served until 1976 as "godawari" (D 92).
