the Badsworths Service began in March 1942. In June 1942, she was transferred to the Mediterranean sea to take part in operation Harpoon. The aim of the operation was to deliver vital supplies to the island of Malta, besieged by German and Italian troops. The operation ended with heavy losses on the side of the allies - only two of the six transport ships reached Malta. HMS Badsworth was hit by a mine, sustaining severe damage and was towed back for necessary repairs.
