Additional Information

"Mayflower" is an English three-masted bark on which the British crossed the Atlantic ocean in 1620 and founded the first British settlement in North America.
In September 1620, a crowded Mayflower left Plymouth and headed for Virginia. On Board were one hundred and two settlers: forty-one adult man, nineteen women and children. "Mayflower" was a two-decked, three-masted ship with a length of about 27 meters and a displacement of about 180 tons vessel Dimensions did not allow the passengers to sleep comfortably. They were all crowded in the forecastle and in the hold. The voyage lasted seventy days. Landed near Cape Cod 700 miles North of Virginia immigrants founded the settlement of Plymouth - the first British colony in New England. Before disembarking, each man-immigrant signed the so-called Mayflower agreement, a draft of which was prepared by one of the leaders of the resettlement William Bradford. The text of the agreement was an initial prototype of the current Constitution of the United States. In April of 1621, the ship returned to England. The ship itself has not survived, but in England was built a copy of it, which crossed the Atlantic in 1957, stood on the eternal Parking lot in Plymouth (Massachusetts).
