TK-208 "Dmitry Donskoy" – the heavy nuclear-powered missile submarine cruiser of strategic appointment of the project 941 "Akula".
the Task to develop submarines was given to the Rubin LSMB in December 1972. It was a response to the construction of U.S. SSBNs "Ohio". The size of the cruiser was determined by the dimensions of solid-fuel three-stage Intercontinental ballistic missiles R-39 (RSM-52), which was planned to arm the "Sharks". The first submarine of the project was launched in 1980. In total, from 1981 to 1989, six boats of the series were launched and put into operation.
