Additional Information
the Word "Brigantine" comes from "brigand" - "pirate, robber", so called light pirate ships. Later the type of the vessel was changed, and the name remained the same. In the XVII-XVIII centuries Brigantine carried straight sails on both masts, and equal circulation had the terms “Brigantine” and “brig” (as an abbreviation of the first). In the XVIII century brigantines were used in military fleets as messengers and reconnaissance ships.
