K-3 “Lenin Komsomol” – the first Soviet submarine with a nuclear power plant. Unlike diesel submarines, boats with a nuclear power plant could move underwater for long distances and at high speed. K-3 was the first ship of the Russian Navy to reach the North pole and the first ship in the world to emerge at the North pole.
