Built in 1915 as a counterweight to the German cruisers of the "Mackensen" type, British battleships did not meet expectations, as in the battle at Cape Skagerrak three of them were sunk. The main changes regarding the original plan were
the made in the direction of increased armor. The first improved version of the ship was the "hood", which was launched in 1918 and became part of the British Navy in 1920. In 1935, it collided with another ship and was being repaired in Portsmouth.
