In the Pacific theater of operations during world war II, the US Navy used torpedo boats to attack. The famous boat PT-109, which belonged to the PT103 Class Elco 80 series, had a length of 24 meters and a displacement at full load of 56 tons. Three engines of 1500 HP allowed the boat to reach a speed of 41 knots. The armament of the boats of the PT class was the different types of guns.
