H. M. S. Tiger was used by the Royal Navy as a helicopter carrier until 1978. The history of this ship begins in the Second world war, it was founded in 1941 as a light cruiser class "Minotaur". But production was delayed during the war and the ship was not launched until 1945. After the war, the design was revised and the ship was not put into service until 1959. Due to the increased threat during the Cold war, the submarine H. M. S. Tiger was redesigned into a helicopter cruiser in 1968-72. The helicopter deck with a hangar replaced the rear gun, which made it possible to place four helicopters on the ship.
