Additional Information
In March 1942 the Royal Navy and commandos launched an attack on the dry dock in Saint-Nazaire, in occupied France. This Bay was an important logistics point of the German Kriegsmarine in the Atlantic. The RAID was carried out by several destroyers and boats, providing transportation of British commandos. The operation was successfully completed, the dry dock was damaged and was not used until the end of the war. A key role was assigned to the MTB 74, it was specially modified at the Royal Navy shipyards by torpedo tubes and a special muffler for the engine. The task of the MTB 74 was to damage the anti-submarine barriers and launch a torpedo to block the gate. MTB 37 coped with both tasks, but on the way back was damaged and flooded.
