This amphibious assault vessel was widely used by the US and British Navy during world war II to transport wheeled vehicles, light armored vehicles and materials (weighing up to 30 tons) from the ship to the coast. From 1942 to the end of the conflict, more than 8,000 LCM model 3s were built in numerous American shipyards. Later this technique was used by the allies of the United States, until the 1980-ies.
