the Royal Navy of great Britain restored the u-1407 submarine and enlisted it on 25 September 1945 under the name "HMS Meteorite". It served as a model for two other submarines: the HMS Explorer and the HMS Excalibur. HMS Meteorite WAS withdrawn from the fleet in July 1949 and scrapped in 1950.
