Royal Louis was a three-deck ship with 120 guns. He was one of the most powerful ships of the 1st rank belonging to the French Royal Navy at that time. His armament consisted of 36, 24 and 12-pound guns. In wartime, the ship was additionally located the body of shooters and scorers and the crew amounted to 1260 people.
