SB - high-speed bomber developed in the design Bureau under the leadership of Andrei Tupolev, made its first flight on October 07, 1934. It was an advanced machine – excellent speed did not allow to keep up with any modern fighter of that time.  SB entered service high-speed bomber regiments, which were the basis of the bomber fleet of the Soviet Union. Machines took part in all conflicts, from Spain and ending with the first period of the great Patriotic War. By 1941, the machine is very outdated, the main German fighter easily caught up with the Soviet bomber. But, no matter what, Soviet bombers struck the enemy columns, often in the afternoon, without fighter cover. The pilots broke through the enemy communications and dropped heavy bombs, only the lucky ones returned home, and the German aces recorded themselves for the flight of 7-8 old, poorly protected bombers, proud of such air victories.
