the Yak-23 was designed for the already well-established on the Yak-15/17 being transferred to the scheme. Used on the aircraft wing with laminirovannom profile and the slotted flaps of the type TSAGI. Weapons, consisting of two 23-mm guns HP-23K placed at the bottom of the forward fuselage, under the engine.
Yak-23 superior standing in service of Soviet aircraft Yak-15/17 and MiG-9, but significantly lost to fighters with swept wings. But since the debugging and testing of the MiG-15 and La-15 took time, it was decided to mass production of the Yak-23. Initially, the Yak-23 tried to introduce into production at the Novosibirsk plant № 153, but to no avail. In February 1949, the Yak-23 began to be developed at the Yak-17 plant No. 31 in Tbilisi. But by the middle of the year, due to the attempt to launch the MiG-15 series at this plant, the pace of development of the Yak-23 slowed, and the first machines appeared only in October. In total, before the end of production in March 1951 was released 313 serial Yak-23.
