Additional Information
the First sketches of the aircraft appeared in 1933. In Kharkov aircraft factory experimental and serial aircraft under the leadership of K. Kalinin. The aircraft was designed according to the tailless scheme. The absence behind the wing of the tail gave the opportunity to establish a stern shooting tower for full circular defense. The wing aircraft had less drag, which means it had a greater speed, flight range and payload than the aircraft of the classical scheme.
For the development of the scheme was built a flying model of the aircraft in the scale of 1: 2, to confirm the theoretical calculations, it test pilot A. Borisov made more than 100 flights.
In 1935 Kalinin KB transferred to Voronezh and only in 1936 begins the construction of the aircraft. The aircraft was equipped with two engines M-22 480 HP with two-bladed fixed pitch screws with a diameter of 2.8 m.
