After the end of the Second world war, almost all the leading aviation powers started designing special transport aircraft of large capacity. Was no exception and the UK - in 1945, the chief designer of the company GAL (General Aircraft Ltd) of Krokom set his subordinates the task to create a Tactical freighter for delivery to the battlefield of people and technology.
During 1945, representatives of the Ministry of aviation and Gal firm approved the final specification, negotiating the tactical and technical data of the new aircraft.
