Additional Information

McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is a development of the DC-10 liner. The new aircraft received an elongated fuselage of 5.71 m, a new tail, Winglets at the ends of the wings, more powerful engines and a modern control system that reflected all flight information on six monitors.
the Aircraft made its first flight on 10 January 1990, it passed certification in November of the same year and the first commercial copy was handed over to Finnair on 7 December 1990.
MD-11 was offered to customers in four versions: MD-11ER - aircraft with an increased flight radius; MD-11F - cargo version; MD-11C - option when part of the cabin occupied passenger seats and part was allocated for cargo; MD-11CF - could be easily processed into passenger or cargo, depending on the requirements of a particular flight. The aircraft could be equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines or General Electric engines. Rolls-Royce offered its Trent 665 to the MD-11, but the only customer for this option - air Europe - ceased to exist in 1991, even before the start of deliveries.
In November 1997, following the merger of McDonnell Douglas and Boeing, the latter announced that the MD-11 would continue to remain on the production line mainly as a cargo aircraft. However, in June 1998, Boeing changed its decision, citing the fact that the aircraft is not enough demand in the market of commercial Airliners. As a result, its production was curtailed. The latest MD-11 was released on 22 February 2001 and transferred to Lufthansa Cargo. In total, two hundred machines were produced for all the time. MD-11 is currently used only in the cargo version.
