Additional Information
< span>the very first jet-powered helicopter was designed and built by the German designer Doblhof. A conventional Walter Mikron piston engine, operating as a compressor, fed compressed air mixed with fuel to the combustion chambers located at the ends of the blades. The resulting jet spun the main rotor.< / span>< / p>
< span>a Total of four prototypes were built, designated from V1 to < / span>V4. The first of them made its first flight in early 1943 in Vienna. However, the machine was extremely capricious in operation, and its flight characteristics were extremely low. Moreover, distinguishing itself with the slow-moving helicopter Doblhoff consumed a fair amount of fuel, so the range and the flight duration was limited.< / span>< / p>
