the development Of the light fighter Northrop F-20 Tigershark began in 1975, as a further development of the F-5E Tiger I program, the aircraft had a new engine, modern avionics and a powerful radar. The strength of the aircraft was the low purchase and operating cost. The development was carried out under the influence of the us Department of defense, which wanted to create an effective fighter capable of fighting with the latest Soviet aircraft, without the risk of falling into the hands of high-tech equipment of the USSR. The program was closed in 1986, after the construction of three prototypes.
