the air-10 Was created in 1935 under the leadership of A. S. Yakovlev. In 1937, the aircraft successfully passed state tests and under the name of UT-2 was adopted for mass production. UT-2 was a free-carrying monoplane of all-wood construction. Air-cooled engine M-11G 110 HP
From 1938 to 1948, the UT-2 was the main aircraft of primary schools. It trained hundreds of thousands of military pilots. Many aircraft UT-2 used in flying clubs until the 50-ies. In total, 7243 aircraft were built.
