In 1938 in Germany was launched the body of the future aircraft carrier "Graf Zeppelin". As a carrier-based fighter company Messerschmitt was designed version of the aircraft Bf-109T-0 with increased wingspan and equipment for landing on an aircraft carrier. The basis was taken fighter Bf-109E. The first Bf-109T-1s were built in 1941. On the plane the engine was installed the DB-601N, with a capacity of 1200 HP, the Wings could be folded manually on a hinge just behind the attachment points of the guns. Between the fifth and sixth frames of the fuselage was the point of attachment to the catapult. The landing hook was attached directly to the seventh frame. Armament consisted of two synchronized machine guns MG-17, and the wings could be mounted on either two papeleta MG 17 or MG FF cannons. |
Since the aircraft carrier was never built, the fighters were converted into the Bf-109T-2 variant. The aircraft was removed from the attachment to the catapult and landing hook, equipped with a ventral holder for 300 l tank, four 50 kg bombs or one 250 kg. in Total, 60 bf109t aircraft were built.
