a New passenger aircraft An - 24 life created and Antonov design Bureau in 1959 On its basis was built military transport version of the An-24T.In 1967-1971, 164 aircraft of this type were produced in Irkutsk. In 1964, the developers proposed a draft of a new version of the aircraft, which received the designation An-26. It featured a new design of the nose and tail parts of the fuselage. In the nose it was decided to place the Navigator with glazing type An-12. In the rear part there was a cargo hatch, closing the ramp of the original design. The new aircraft could transport and drop in the air not only cargo but also light equipment. State tests lasted from 1968 to 1970. Full-scale production was launched in 1970 at the Kiev aviation plant. The total number of issued An-26 was 1398 copies, including 564 for the security agencies of the USSR. 420 went on exports, and the rest in various ministries.
