the er-2 long-range bomber was built in 1940 and was produced at the aircraft plant No. 18 in Voronezh. Chief designer V. G. Ermolaev. Before the war was built a few dozen aircraft. In 1944, at the Irkutsk aviation plant № 39, mass production of a new modification of the EP-2 with diesel engines ACH-GOITER was launched. The bomber liked the pilots for a comfortable cabin with excellent visibility, good stability and ease of control, high survivability and powerful weapons. In total, from 1944 to 1946, 391 er-2 bombers were built at the Irkutsk aircraft plant. At the end of 1944, with the participation of Sukhoi design Bureau for the top leadership of the country was built four aircraft EP-2 HE with a comfortable passenger cabin.
