B 1987 year in the Kamov design Bureau on the basis of the Ka-26 was built a new version of the Ka-126. The helicopter is a deep modernization of the multi-purpose ka-26 helicopter. The design difference of the Ka-126 from its predecessor is the power plant. The helicopter is equipped with a new turboprop engine with a capacity of 530 kW developed by the motor-Building design Bureau, gearbox BP-126 and a new transmission. The helicopter is designed to perform aerial work in agriculture and forestry, transportation of people and cargo. On the basis of Ka-126 developed its export modification of the Ka-128 for the installation of French ARIEL 1D1 engine with a capacity of 731 kW.
