the Yak-27R reconnaissance Aircraft was built in 1958 on the basis of the Yak-122 pilot aircraft. To improve the view from the cockpit, the nose cone was completely glazed. The aircraft received an improved wing, which left only the internal aerodynamic crests. Wingspan increased due to the use of endings, made for balancers - fairings of wing supports. The power plant serial Yak-27R included two engines RD-9F, while the flight range at an altitude of 10 000 m reached 1770 km. the Use of suspended fuel tanks allowed to increase the flight range to 2380 km. In total, 180 copies of the Yak-27R were built. The first public demonstration of the aircraft took place at the aviation parade in Tushino in 1961. In NATO reconnaissance aircraft Yak-27R was given the name "Mangrove".
