the Canberra Medium tactical bomber was designed and built by English Electric in 1949. The first production aircraft took off on 21 April 1950. In the midst of the Korean war, the British government decided to accelerate the rearmament of its bomber aircraft, for which Avro, Handley Page and Short joined the production of the aircraft in addition to the English Electric plant. For fourteen years of production, 1352 aircraft of various modifications were built, which were used by the air forces of 16 countries.
