SE.210 Caravelle is a multi-purpose transport aircraft developed by the French company Sud-Aviation (now Aerospatiale). 1951, the Secretariat of civil aviation of France has developed requirements for short-haul passenger aircraft capable of flying at a speed of at least 620 km/h on routes linking France with the countries of North Africa. In January 1952, three companies presented their projects, of which SNCASE was recognized as the winner (later called Sud-Aviation; in the 1960s it became part of Aerospatiale). Sncase company proposed the x-210 project, which was a plane with a low-lying swept wing and two turbofan mounted on the sides of the tail of the fuselage. After the company became the winner of the competition, the aircraft was named SE.210 Caravelle. The British company Rolls-Royce, which supplied the engines, and some Italian companies participated in the development of the aircraft.
