Grumman HU-16 Albatross is a large twin-engine amphibious aircraft (flying boat). The original name SA-16 was changed to HU-16 in 1962. An upgraded version of the Grumman Mallard, dubbed "Albatross", was developed for landing in the open ocean to rescue downed or crashed pilots.
