Factory tests of the C-123B production aircraft began in Hagerstown on September 1, 1954, just 11 months after the transfer of the rights to its production to Fairchild. On October 6, the first two production aircraft were handed over to the customer and transferred to Edwards airbase for military tests. The program of acceptance tests consisted of more than a hundred flights, during which the legality of the changes made to the design of the aircraft was fully confirmed.
