Agile CC-115 Buffalo search and rescue (SAR) aircraft can take off and land on even the most rugged terrain and in such short locations as a football field. At an altitude of 24m, Buffalo is small enough to serve the rough and mountainous terrain on Canada's West coast. All six of the armed forces CC-115 Canada busy with 442 transport and rescue squadron from Comox, British Columbia. The squadron is responsible for the SAR zone stretching from the sun- Washington border to the Arctic, and from the Rocky mountains up to 1200 km above the Pacific ocean. The maximum load capacity of 2727 kg or 41 fully equipped soldiers - Buffalo has a range of 2240 km. Buffalo will be replaced by the C-295W from Airbus. The new stationary search and rescue aircraft will perform vital rescue and rescue missions across Canada's vast and complex territory, including the Arctic.
