Gloucester E28/39 (G. 40) became the first British jet. Testing of the prototype, equipped with turbojet engine began in April 1941 To March 1944, during the final stage of flight tests, "pioneer" reached a speed of 755 km/h, the highest at that time in the UK. In April 1946 the experimental E28/39 (G. 40) was transferred to the Science Museum in London. Just built two experimental aircraft.
