Additional Information
In 1936, the German military put forward the idea of direct use of the glider to transport combat troops, and then put forward the concept of "assault glider". DeutscheForschungsanstaltfurSegelflug (DFS) successfully developed three prototypes in 1937. The first type, the DFS-230A - Glider is highly rectangular in cross-section fuselage, with a load-bearing structure of steel pipes and sheathing, cheap and easy production. The glider could accommodate 8 armed soldiers and 2 crew members. The German air machine gun was mounted on the DFS-230B, and could be used in the air, as well as for self-defense and firing on the ground. In order to reduce the landing distance in the model DFS230A-1, tested a jet with reverse thrust. As a result, the use of a jet created by the jet force of the aircraft, the landing distance was 16 meters. In addition, the smoke generated by the installation could provide effective protection for gliders and paratroopers after landing. DFS then improves on B-1 and this prototype is called "DFS230V6"
