Kawasaki C-1 is a short-range twin-engine military transport aircraft developed by Kawasaki for The Japanese air self-defense forces. It was created to replace the obsolete transport aircraft of the second world war era, such as the C-46 in service with the self-defense Air force. The aircraft was operated only by the Japanese self-defense forces, it was not exported.
25 C-1 aircraft form the basis of the fleet of military transport aircraft of the Japanese self-defense forces. The aircraft is designed for air transportation of troops, military equipment and cargo, landing of personnel and equipment by landing and parachute methods, evacuation of the wounded.
the development Of the aircraft was started by the Japanese firm NAMC (Nihon Aeroplane Manufacturing Company) in 1966 year to replace them with obsolete American transport aircraft C-46D. The prototype of the HS-1 aircraft made its first flight on November 12, 1970. Serial production was carried out by a consortium which included the firms Kawasaki, Fuji, Mitsubishi and Nihon since 1974.
