Me 262 "Petrel" was the first jet fighter used in world war II. Design work began in 1938, July 18, 1942 was the first flight. In total, about 1,300 aircraft were built, their pilots claim 509 air victories. The Me 262 family was used in a variety of roles including scouts, light bombers, heavily armed interceptors, and experimental night fighters. The Me 262 A-1a/U2 was the only prototype with the FuG 220 Lichtenstein SN-2 90 MHz radar and Hirschgeweih antennas.
