Additional Information
the D520 was created on the terms of reference of 1934 for a single-seat fighter to replace the old machines (such as the D-510), which have lost their importance with the advent of modern fighter schemes, such as the English "Hurricane". The draft design of the D. 520 was developed under the leadership of Emil Dewoitine young engineers Vauthier, ray and Costello. They took as a basis the aircraft D. 514, which in the process changed the wing and tail. In 1936, changes were made to the technical specification-the machine had a free-bearing low-lying wing with ailerons, a closed cabin, retractable landing gear and an engine with a capacity of about 1000 HP with a variable pitch screw. The first flight of the prototype D-520 took place in October 1938 years.
