Heinkel he 51 was the first serial fighter of German Luftwaffe.
the Prototype of the aircraft, which had the designation No-51A, designed by the Gunter brothers, made its first flight in the summer of 1933. In 1935, serial production of Non-51A-1 fighters began.
the Modification of the 51B-1, which was equipped with an external fuel tank, was made since 1936. 135 aircraft 51 was sent to Spain, where they were used in the battles of the German Legion "Condor", who fought on the side of the nationalists, as fighters and fighter-bombers. On Not 51 in Spain began to fight many future German aces of world war II –, Adolf Galland, Harro harder, Hans Trautloft.
Modification Not 51V-2 –, marine fighter equipped with two floats. Such aircraft served in units I/JG 136 and II/JG 136 German Kriegsmarine in the late 30-ies.
