Ki-27 — pre-production aircraft, different from the second prototype even larger area and wingspan, increased keel, redesigned engine hood and cockpit lamp. Part of the aircraft received the engine Ha-1 Ko, part -Ha-1 Otsu (710 HP). Armament — 2 7.7 mm synchronous machine gun "type 89" (500 rounds of ammunition per barrel). From June to December 1937, 10 aircraft were built.
