Il-62 - long-haul passenger aircraft. Designed by Ilyushin design Bureau in the early 1960s. Il-62 was the first Soviet jet aircraft capable of Intercontinental flights, as well as non-stop flights from Moscow to the far East. Operation of the Il-62 began in 1967 in January 1974 on the air line came improved liner Il-62M with more powerful and efficient engines and additional fuel tanks, which increased the range. During serial production from 1966 to 1995 290 Il-62 aircraft were produced. About a third of them were exported to socialist countries.
